Painting Fun with Maureen Kelly Saturday, April 20th

An original design by Cynthia Erekson from The Quilted Acorn Shoppe, Maureen will present the project on the surface of your choice.  A complete Pattern Packet as well as use of paints will be included in the cost of the class.
CLASS FEE: $20.00

SURFACE SUGGESTIONS: Cotton Toweling table runner 36"x17" from the Quilted Acorn Shoppe or a surface of your choice (i.e. small sled, wood plate, 12"x12" wood or canvas, wood circle to fit in a wreath, or muslin fabric square)

SIGN UP DEADLINE - APRIL 10th
 GENERAL SUPPLIES: tracing paper, transfer paper, stylus, black Pigma Micron fine-point permanent marker (black), assorted brushes and regular painting supplies
SUPPLIES for FABRIC: 18" square of cotton Muslin, freezer paper, iron, asst. fabric brushes
WOOD SURFACE PREP: Sand surface. Wipe away dust. Apply a basecoat of Sealer + Light Buttermilk (1:1).  Let dry. Sand lightly. Apply a top coat of Light Buttermilk (no sealer added). Trace and transfer pattern*.  Basecoat robe and hat (not fur) with Light Avocado.
*Pattern will be sent to you when you sign up.  Robe and hat should be basecoated before class.

"Garden Shed" Preparation Information

"Garden Shed" Memo Board

Class: March 16, 2013 at 9:30 am  Location: Sagamore Beach Fire Stn. Community Room

SURFACE: JB Wood Products Item No. 0321 Framed Panel - 15.5 in. square. Contact JB Wood
(Surface is included in the Class Fee for the first 20 painters who sign up for the class.  Additional painters must provide their own surface.)

PREPARATION: Fill nail holes around edges. Sand smooth and wipe away dust. Basecoat/seal all sides (front, back, edges) with equal parts water-base sealer and paint (choose DecoArt Americana Sea Glass, Silver Sage, Winter Blue, Gray Sky or Dove Gray). Let dry. Sand lightly and wipe away dust. Apply top coat of straight paint (no sealer added). Let dry. Use an inexpensive natural bristle "chip" brush to gray vertical streaks of DecoArt Bleached Sand across the front side of the board to give a rustic effect.  See photo here. NOTE: Do not transfer of paint the blackboard area.  The pattern will be transferred and the Blackboard Paint applied when you arrive on the day of class! March 16, 2013 at 9:30 am.

SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS: 1 inch "chip" brush, size 3/4 inch flat wash brush, size 12 flat, size 6 ultra-round, size 1 mid-liner; 12 inch ruler, masking tape, water-base sealer, gray graphite transfer paper, stylus, pencil, background paint of your choice listed above.  Also, a palette, water bowl & paper towels.

2013 Habitat for Humanity Birdhouse Project

Chapter members are encouraged to paint a birdhouse for this spring's Plymouth Area Habitat for Humanity charity auction!

Houses will be collected at our MARCH 16TH meeting!  Thank you for donating your time and talent to this very worthy cause!

"Garden Shed" Memo Board - March 16th

 Our March 16th program will be a Special Fund Raising Event for the Chapter!  Laure Paillex has designed and will teach this spring "Garden Shed" Memo Board featuring DecoArt's new Blackboard Paint. CCMDA members can participate in this event for only $25.00 ($35.00 for non-members) - which includes the surface, pattern packet, instruction and paints - the entire class fee will go into our CCMDA Treasury!
     Free surfaces are available to the first 20 people who sign up. Once the free surfaces are gone, painters may take the class ($25.00 donation) but must provide their own surface (JB Wood Item #0321 - 15.5 in. square panel).  To Register, send payment to CCMDA Treasurer, Diana Sosnowski.

CCMDA Announces New Meeting Venue

On Saturday, February 16th our first meeting was held in the community room at the new Sagamore Beach Fire Station located just off Rte. 3/ Exit 1 at the Sagamore Bridge.  Everyone agreed that the new venue is wonderful and suits our needs perfectly - good lighting, ample space, excellent seating/tables, clean restroom, kitchenette counter with water and refrigerator, wide-screen TV - our dreams come true!  Many thanks to Maureen Kelly for finding this great new home for us!
